Luojiagou Sustainable Planning

The project is located at Xiakou Town, Nanan District of Chongqing, has Nanshan parkland on its west and Yangzi River on its north. Lush vegetation and small villages could be found in the valley, but this land will be trapped by rapid growing towns in the near future. Thus, how to ensure the sustainable rural development and build close connection to the city became the core value of this project. 

 

As its philosophy “pastoral life, endless leisure”, the project has built up sustainable development in the complex land of industry-society-nature. Import certain industries, help self-growth of local villages, create comfort idyllic living atmosphere, encourage participation of urban residents, and with this support to achieve harmonious rural communities.

   

In particular, the project is mainly focusing on these five aspects:

1.  Copy self-growth industry development, abandoned conventional mega industries, support local and external small businesses, promote overall sustainable development. Encourage self-growth development mode via supporting and making introduction of chosen external small businesses, which will benefit local communities.

2.  Improve added economic value of small business. Avoid mega industry and urbanization within the transformation from conventional agriculture to service industry. Reflect regional landscape characteristic by emphasis farmers’ individual operation and new service industry. Gradually raising public income, sharing achievements and cooperating for mutual enrichment. 

3.  Allow collective land enter the market. Improve rural infrastructure to serve local residents and visitors via intensive management. Overall planning homestead and collective land, control homestead rates and collective land scales.   

4. Localize sustainable technologies; reconstruct residential houses with methods to approach low cost, easy operation, and energy-efficiency. Improve comfort level while indurating safety, and to be sustainable in energy usage, stormwater reuse, swage and waste treatment, etc. 

Build harmonious rural social relations, relocated farmers in nearby area and forming new neighborhoods. Mix various types of land-use, including residential house, hotel, restaurant, workshop and retail, create a vivid and harmonious village pattern.
